BC-workspace Types and Costs
General Information
BC-workspace costs vary, depending the following factors:
- Type of BC-workspace.
- Windows BC-workspaces are more expensive than Linux.
- Amount of data stored on them.
- This includes data stored in any directory as well as the space taken by the Operating System and any additional applications you may have installed.
- Amount of data transferred out (downloaded).
- Data downloads require prior approval and their cost is calculated as part of the "Ordering" process, so that you will know exactly how much you will be charged for each download.
- Time spent in "Started" mode.
- BC-workspaces that are kept running even when no analysis is performed on them still consume computing resources and incur "compute" costs.
- Compute costs are not incurred by BC-workspaces in "Stopped" state.
In addition to variable costs there are additional, fixed costs that are related to infrastructure components that are required to be kept running. These fixed costs are independent from any of the factors mentioned above and are included in the calculations below.
To help you decide the amount of credit (as defined in the Advanced Compute Contract) that would allow you to use your BC-workspace without interruption for as long as you require, we have put together estimates for indicative usage scenarios.
